1986 Toyota Corolla Base review from North America
"An indestructible beater car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Bumper came off after an encounter with an old Chevy truck.
Oil cap was left off at one time, causing oil to be sprayed under the hood.
General comments?
This car is indestructible. My dad has owned it since '89 and has been using it in stop and go traffic everyday since. Despite lack of maintenance (I think the oil was just recently changed... for the first time in 13 years!!!), stop and go driving, and three people learning to drive a stick on it, it drives on. I'm now driving it while I fix my other car, and I have to say that for the money, this car is quite a deal. 100,000 is nothing for this car. While my Chevy is started to come apart at 101,000, this little beater will probably life to see my younger brother drive it. Seating and accomodations are spartan, interior is tacky at best (unless you enjoy cheap tweed), gas mileage is great, and reliability is excellent. It's slow as all hell, but that's not so important to some people.
