1991 Toyota Corolla LE review from North America
"Decent car for the money, but beware when things go wrong!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Where do I begin? ;)
170k miles - exhaust manifold died.
179k miles - exhaust manifold died again.
180k miles - fuel filter needed changing.
181k miles - brakes went out.
185k miles - alternator died.
190k miles - engine death.
Towards the end the speakers blew and started to go out.
All this with regular tune-ups, oil
changes, etc.
General comments?
This was my first car. I've heard they go forever, but apparently the previous owners (friends of my mother) did not take very good care of it. Granted, I drove the living heck out of it (I'm a DJ and I drive it interstate for club gigs) but according to what I've heard it should have been more reliable with the care I took of it. The gas mileage, however, was top. If you can find one with very low mileage I would HIGHLY recommend it...however, after 160K miles all bets are off. I loved it before it died too. :~ (
