1997 Toyota Corolla G6 from UK and Ireland - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Electrical problems, tracking went off twice, engine stuttering and refusing to rev higher than 3500 rpm several times, rubbers around head lights fell off.

General comments?

A good all round car, despite pityful performance from the 1.3 4EFE engine the car is fairly nippy due to the 6 speed box with intelligently selected ratios, great handling particularly with wider rubber, parts are almost unbeliveably expensive and really dreadful dealer back up (caught service mechanics speeding in my car).

I think the G6 is the most reliable car I have ever driver. (i own 1 myself) I think its 1.3 engine is very nippiy, with its 6 speed gear box. hold the road like a go-cart and has all the mod cons. I am finding hard to get a kit for my car thou. but other than that, I think it is a good all round car.

Thanx Paul May

I drive a '98 Toyota Corolla 1.3 G6 and have never had a better car; no problems at all. The rubber that lies around the headlights can be a little tricky, but you only have to keep an eye out for that.

It always starts, from -28 degrees Celsius to +40 degrees Celsius. No problem!!

How expensive are parts for the car? How much are we talking in relation to an alfa?

I own a 1997 G6, and I have had no major problems other than the gearbox has just started to syncromesh when selecting third gear. The car has 95000 miles now and apparently syncromesh is a common problem for this particular model. Other than that, it's well equipped, fun to drive and well built.
