1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 Sprinter Trueno review from Malaysia
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Not a thing...
Except tyres. Used up a lot of rubber while driving this sweet machine.
General comments?
This car is wonderful. If you are talking about power... well it doesn't have much. Only 150 BHP or so. But the handling is so sweet (neutral) that you could almost feel like it is an extension of your mind. This is the car where you could drive like mad, see a corner, dive into the apex while trailbraking, downshift, the rear starts to slide out, countersteer and balance with throttle to produce a nice drift... even when you are a novice like myself.
The AE86 is apparently a legend in Japan. But being in Malaysia, I've never heard of it. I saw it while looking for a cheap car (it was cheap) and bought it. My friends saw it and they went nuts. They showed me the pictures. That's when I started to try out those crazy drifts. hehehe.
I never modified my car and the Trueno is still standard except for a freeflow filter and a straightflow exaust.
I do not want to mention about the inside as it is not important. The whole beauty of the car is in its handling. WOW!!!
