"The corolla will not last"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I've replaced 2 alternators.

Sometimes the car just wouldn't start.

Front struts were bad.

Front differentials frequently leaked.

Transmission began stalling at 145000.

Paint fell off on the bottom panels.

Power started fading very quickly after 100.000 miles.

General comments?

The corolla's pretty good economy car for the first 100.000. However, the car really falls apart after 100000 miles. The motor just burns out.

Hello,

I just wanted to comment that I am a certified toyota technician I see cars come into our chop with 300,000 miles on them and they just have maintained thier cars no major repairs still running perfectly fine and we have ones with 50,000 miles on them and have blown transmissions why because they were not maintianed you HAVE to change the oil every 3,000 miles you HAVE to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles or it WILL break. You need to take care of a car for it to take care of you. My car a 1992 corolla sedan has 205,897 miles on it I got it for free because someone drove it with no fluid in the transmission the transmission pan was leaking normal for a 190,000 mile car usually you would change the trans pan gasket at 90,000 (every other transmission service) well the went 180,000 miles without every doing anything to the transmission so it all leaked out the differential bearings went bad and caused the would transmission to burn up and tear up the ring gear. I gave them an estimate for a transmission and the said here are the keys I told then I don't want it unless it's free they said OK here's the keys I spent 300 dollars for a transmission out of a car that was wrecked with 130,000 miles on it and the car has been running fine ever since I see it everyday. In my honest opinion it doesn't matter was kind of car you own if you take care of it and spend the money to take car of it it will take car of you.

I own a 1991 corolla that was given to me by a very good friend. The car had about 103,000 miles on it then. I received it after it had blown the engine, No fault of it's own I might add. The dealer left the oil drain plug out. I bought another block, which I installed all new parts. The car now has 130,235 miles on it and I haven't had any more problems.

I purchased a 1992 Corrola about 1 year ago and I have to say I think it is one of the best cars I have ever owned! For the age of the car I think it has a lot of pep. My husband put a K&N air filter on it and I get about 42 miles to the gallon now. I LOVE IT!!!
