1989 Toyota Corolla DX review from North America
"As good as it gets for basic transportation"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Almost nothing. Once in a while, little interior things like door handles broke; and were a nuisance to replace, but did not effect the functionality of the car in the least. The radiator once had a minor leak (but was a snap to replace myself and only cost about $30). Otherwise, at almost 170,000 it ran like the day it rolled off the showroom floor.
General comments?
This car saved my Life. This is not a Joke, the only reason I don't still have this car is that I lost it in an accident. I was T-boned in the driver's side door by a giant SUV traveling at 35 MPH. I blacked out, and the paramedics had to cut the car to get me out, but I didn't have so much as a scratch on me. I walked away from the accident totally intact. I love Toyota corollas. Every one I have owned (1982, 1989, 1992) has been a very well built, utterly reliable car.
