1990 Toyota Corolla GTi-16 review from UK and Ireland
"Get one and surprise the corsa boys!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rust around all four arches and tailgate.
General comments?
I've only had the car a few months, but I still enjoy it.
It is a very quick, underrated hot hatch that will easily beat a mk2 golf gti 16v and comfortably keep up with escort rs turbos.
Revs all the way to 8000rpm!
The main problem, as with all 80's and 90's hot hatches is rust.
I've fitted a Blitz induction which sounds mental.
It's engine responds very well to mild tuning.
I find the interior slightly small, but that's probably down to me being excessively proportioned! Normal people won't have a problem.
The best thing is the look on the face of the boy racers in their kitted up corsa's and saxo's when you blow them away in a slightly rusty 1990 corolla!
Good level of equipment as standard (i.e elec windows and sunroof, central locking and power steering) and you also get cool looking oil pressure and voltmeter guages.
So far I'm well pleased with the car except for the excessive fuel consumption which I'm told is quite normal. A small price to pay!
