Nothing has really gone wrong with the car. The only unusual thing is that the car engine makes weird odors at random times. Everything mechanically is perfect, but the exterior is easily dinged (skateboards, basketball, rocks ect..)
This car has adequate acceleration. It is not really a fast car.
The stereo for this car is amazing. It sounds like we had a custom system installed, but in reality this is just how the car came to us.
The interior is very nice. The wood colored trim make you feel like you are in a luxury car.
This car gets about 33mpg. 40mpg on the highway alone.
The car is small, but leg room is adequate given my 5' 10'' 130 figure.
Hmmm you must have had a sucky stereo in your previous car because my stock 2004 Corolla sound system sucks-
Yes, I agree when you say when your Corolla could last 20 or more years with over 200K.
I currently own a 1987 Toyota Corolla LE. This car is 18 years old and has 187,600 miles on it.
People can't believe it is that old because the interior and body are like new. No rust, worn seats or cracked dash on this car. It is two toned;gray and silver. After it is washed it shines like new.
However, I am having problems with the carburetor...I'll probably have to get it rebuilt. I can't complain because I only paid $300 for the car. I believe it would be well worth fixing!
As I pulled into my driveway this afternoon in my '03 corolla le, I looked at my neglected (pending restoration) 1971 corona mk II hardtop at the end of the driveway.
What memories returned! The original '71 required all of $25 to replace broken parts in its FIRST SEVEN YEARS of service! All other expenses were normal wear and tear items, and regular maintenance.
Although the mk II was two steps above the Corolla in 1971, the current Corolla is a worthy successor. The regular Corona and Corona mk II had an 1900 cc motor. Rated at about 105 or 108 hp, under the old SAE rating system.
At 2.0 L and 130 hp, plus all the MODERN amenities, today's Corolla fairly comparable size-wise, and more powerful, luxurious, and efficient.
It is even, in technology, handling, comfort, and RELIABILITY, superior to any 2- to 3-liter 1971 MERCEDES!
YOU've got to be kidding... a 2003 corolla lasting over 200 000 miles... you've got your head in the sky. Cars manufactured for the american consumer have DRASTICALLY gone down in quality... that, unfortunately includes the bullet proof reliability of toyota... wake up people, why do you think leasing is so popular.. wake up.
Best car I ever own and never trade it in for anything if you do trade it in you will miss it a lot.
