1991 Toyota Corolla DX review from North America
"Best car I ever owned"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Starts a little hard in cold weather (15 degrees)
Replaced alternator.
General comments?
Best car I ever owned, having usually driven Fords, so depending on your opinion of those, you may think I don't know what a good car is. I do, actually, but I can't afford the car I would consider fantastic.
This is my first import and I have always wanted a Toyota because of its great reliability reviews in Consumer Reports Buying Guide. I bought this 1991 DX model from a listing in carsoup for $1500. A great price because most of them I saw were between $5000 - $12000. What prices for a 10 - 14 year old car!
This thing is so spunky! Very responsive. light clutch spring, easy shifting, although I wish 5th gear had a higher ratio sometimes.
It had only minor, easily repairable cosmetic defects.
I repeat: Best car I ever owned. Get one.
