2005 Toyota Corolla CE review from North America
"Toyota quality at a great price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Absolutely nothing. This is the best built car I have ever owned.
General comments?
I like everything about this car. I do prefer the styling of the previous generation Corollas, but for ergonomics, and roominess, this style has the previous model beat.
I bought another Toyota because of the quality I have found in their products. My previous car was a 1993 Tercel that gave me years of trouble free service. It is now giving my daughter trouble free service!
The Corolla is a much bigger car that the Tercel, and actually gets better MPG! I always got 36 mpg with my Tercel, and this Corolla with the 5 speed gets 37-39 mpg, and it has more amenities too!
I test drove the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra and the Mazda3 before buying the Corolla. The Mazda3 had a better shifter than the Corolla, but seemed crude. The Civic left me cold, because of it's low driving position. The Elantra was nice, but it's mpg is not up to par. The Corolla, like all Toyotas personify quality, plus the Corolla has the best MPG in it's class.
The ride is quiet, and all materials seem to be very high grade. I certainly understand why the Corolla is the best selling car in the world.
