2001 Toyota Corolla S review from North America
"Great little car that is the true commter king!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing. Just normal maintenance. Auto tranny fluid flush at 50k for $85.00 All 4 brakes done cost 212.00 Belt replaced for $125.00 (at Midas). Amsoil changes 5 of em for 62.00 at Midas.
Wiper blades 6 sets at 19.00 usd a set.
4 new tires at Wal Mart at 49,000 for 312.00. That is it.
General comments?
Do the math when you look at my maintenance for about 60k miles I spent around 500.00 dollars total for maintenance. I did upgrade the CD player for an addtional 212.00 at Circuit City.
So 60k miles 750.00 out of pocket plus gas. I get around 35-38 highway and about 24 to 2-5 city. Mixed usually gets me around 28-30 only because rush hours in the DC metro area are really mean.
I cannot compare this to my 528I 1999 BMW which I got rid of because it nickel and dimed me. Not that I could not afford it, but the RIDICULOUS maintenance charges got old fast.
In a nutshell the Corolla is really A to B no doubt. I'm not saying it competes with BMW in any performance category, but if you need cheap reliable transportation you need to look no further. I am think about trading in for a Honda Civic, but realizing its been trouble free and is paid off I'm not sure. I'd be better off investing the money instead of incurring another montly debt.
If you need prestige and have to be seen in a nice car then really, the S Corolla will not do. If you like having almost nothing to pay for you car in payment or maintenance this car RULEZZZZ!!
