I bought this 1992 model in 1994 when Toyota introduced a face lift Corolla model (1992 model with new lamps and grill). The car was in very good condition, the previous owner rarely used it (he used only for short distance from his home to his shop).
The 4A-FE engine is one of the most efficient engine Toyota ever invented. According to my mechanic, the engine almost never give the owner problems as long as he/she maintains it regularly. This mechanic told me recently (in 2005) that he never done any major overhaul to any 4A-FE engines in his shop. This prove how reliable and durable this type of engine is.
I actually have been driving a 1992 Corolla since 1992 and I have no plans to ever get rid of it. It is now 2006. I did have to replace an engine on it, but only after my teenage daughter ran it without any oil for a few days.
Yes, I said a few days without oil.
This is the best car I have ever owned.
I have bought this model and been using it until now (2007), which this car never gives any real problem to me except for minor repair. the performance is great, even to take cornering while speeding isn't so hard to do without losing control of the car, but keep one thing in mind, REGULAR MAINTENANCE is often the best solution to any car.
