1996 Toyota Corolla 1.6 SE-G review from Indonesia
"Durable and reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced air conditioner components several times.
Replaced shock breakers, tie-rod and other related parts.
Replaced engine mountings.
Replaced power steering seals and hose pipes.
Replaced water pump, radiator parts and cooling system pipes.
Replaced timing belt, tensioner and other related components.
Replaced brake pads (front and rear) several times.
Total costs approx. US$ 2,000.
General comments?
The car was a new model to replace 1992-1995 models, but still uses the same engine as in the previous model.
The engine power is quite proportional to the car size (105 HP for mini sedan).
Fuel consumption is relatively efficient. I recently found that it only consumes 1 l gasoline for 12.3 km (mix of inner city and highway drivings). Quite amazing for 10-year old car.
