1986 Toyota Cressida Sedan from North America - Comments

The radiator had to be replaced when I bought it. $177.00.

The power steering rack also had to be replaced. $273.00.

This is an excellent car. I've always liked big American cars, and shunned Japanese units. I'll never buy another American car again. Ever.

My girlfriend has a 1985 Cressida sedan also, 274,000

miles and it runs like new. Hers is dark blue and mine is maroon.

This car is built on the same chassis and drivetrain as the Supra, but is only available as a 4 door sedan or station wagon.

The fuel injected 5M-GE 2.8 litre dual overhead cam inline six is a testament to great engineering. Not only is it fabulously smooth, it has a very good amount of torque. Coupled to the electronically controlled 4 speed automatic transmission, it makes an excellent powertrain.

Not only does this car have the power, it applies it to the road handles very well too. It is equipped with 4 wheel disk brakes and fully independent suspension like the Supra. It corners like a roller coaster and stops on a dime.

Typical with most Japanese cars of the mid to late eighties, it has the digital dash and a radio with every control you can imagine. Additional radio controls are mounted by the steering wheel, a very nice feature.

The automatic climate control is easy to use and works nicely. The build quality of this car is incredible.

The Cressida was Toyota's top-of-the-line car before they

introduced the Lexus marque, and is equipped with all of the goodies such as A/C, power windows, locks, mirrors, sunroof, stereo, and many more things that make owning a car so much more enjoyable.

This car is almost 17 years old and still looks, runs, and is equipped very well. The Kelley Blue Book still values this car (in good condition) at $3500.00. Toyota products hold their value, and for good reason. Very rarely do I see a Cressida for sale, and never see them in junkyards. Ever.

I would recommend this car to anyone. If you can find one, buy it. My only advice is to take care of it. Don't give it to your kid. Don't sell it. It will take care of you.
