No major faults to report. although the car is rather old, it is still in top shape.
My cressida is simply divine. it seems like it will run forever. it is excellent on gas and also very quiet and powerful. the car was purchased used and you get a lot for the money with a used cressida, although they are impossible to find today. this was toyota's top of the line car in the late 80's. much easier to drive than my old lincoln and very luxurious too...
My 1990 Cressida, after a tune-up with all new plugs, wires, etc.; gets 12 mpg freeway and 9 mpg in the city. How can I improve this?
Sound like your air/fuel mix is out of whack. Easy fix for any machanic.
The mechanics I talked to say that, for an electronic fuel injected car, changing the mixture setting is not simple at all, might need a new computer, sensors, injectors... gets very expensive very fast. It's not as simple as turning the mixture screw on a carburetor.
For your Cressida getting bad gas mileage, try the simple things, keep the tires inflated high, change oil & use the right kind, check air filter, maybe change trans fluid, wheel alignment? And check brakes aren't dragging, parking brake sticks, etc.
