Oil Leaks from various seals.
Worn Tires and little rust.
Seats are stained, but not torn at all.
The Totoya Cressida is a great car.
I have always heard about how rare and great they are and I found one for a cheap price and got it.
I did have to put money into it to repair all the oil seals that were leaking, but that was expected with its high miles.
The car rides very smooth and has great pick up still with the miles.
You can barely hear the engine while the car is running.
The only thing I notice is when I try to take off quickly for passing power the transmission seems to rev up and then shift a little harshly. I have been told this is normal and maybe a speed sensor is needed. If I take off normal the transmission shifts smoothly through all gears and speeds.
In all I feel the Cressida is a very nice car for being 16yrs old and it is much smoother than some newer cars today. Also mine has the power sliding moon roof and every option, but leather and everything works great.
I can see why these cars are so hard to find and mine has just a few surface rust spots that I am treating now and I am thinking of restoring the car with a new paint job and keeping it for awhile.
I too have a '90 Cressida. About your transmission shifting... is your ECT button activated? This is the button next to the shifter that adjusts how your transmission shifts gears. If it is activated the transmission will shift a lot more often and at higher RPM. Just depends on how you like your shifting I guess...
