SUMMARY: TIPS ON OVERHEATING PROBLEM:

1) Remove thermostat (which is used in cold regions only)

2) Have the radiator cleaned or overhauled (if needed).

3) Fill the radiator with coolant, install 2 fans on the bigger condenser near radiator and One fan on the other condenser.

4) Have the cylinder head gasket replaced (if worn out).

5) Use rotary type compressors to minimize engine load.

6) Check/add silicon gel to clutch fan (If engine still overheats - have it overhauled).

7. If the thermostat was not removed, Check the valve control and the flow of water in your engine.

I HOPE THESE WILL HELP MY FELLOW LITE-ACE OWNERS...

I have a Lite Ace GXL 2 litre 1990-1991 automatic. I have a problem with my alternator. I took it off because it was broke. Cut a long story short, I threw it away. I got a second hard one from scrapyard, but no clips to connect wires together. All the alternators have the same color, but my wire is different. Any help is better than none. In addition to sir JOEL TIPS on overheating, maybe after doing all those procedures, as I have experienced, check your water pump, even though it's mechanical and still pumping water, it doesn't mean it's working good.

PROCEDURE TO TEST IF THE PUMP IS OK:

1. Remove the water pump

2. Rotate the pump with your hand while your ear is near the pump hole.

3. If the hole sounds like "vacuum" every time you rotate, it means it's working, otherwise it's not.

I am a 92 model Liteace owner...I'm just wondering if it is normal whenever I start my engine (cold start) that a bit of water comes out from my exhaust tip... then it disappears when the engine starts to heatup... mine is 5k engine... thanks!

This forum is very informative, now that am also a new owner of a LiteAce 1991. Also have encountered the same overheating problem. Still doing different test and repair before I purchase a new OEM radiator from evercool or roberts to ensure a no overheat travel even in traffic. I will heed the advice of many LiteAcer's in our country.

Thank you.

This simply means that your engine is burning the fuel efficiently! The product of perfect combustion is water, and that goes out of your exhaust pipe as it is still cold, otherwise, the water becomes vapor and you will not notice it.

To jacks- if you have a Philippine Lite ace, the battery is located at a compartment behind the right side front seat.

Guys, thank you for the very informative details on certain types of lite ace's. I suggest that we should always keep the engine not feed with exhausted oil, moreover using synthetic or fully synthetic (much better) could be a great boost on the engine performance. Try oils with anti friction effects, so that overheating could be minimized and keeping the engine temperature low. Try Pertua Fully Synthetic or for those who are budget conscious (Apex - semi Synthetic) for gasoline engines and exello for diesel ones. Fortified with additive that would not create oil lumps and also Teflon based for smooth performance.. Technology approved in the Philippines by a Pinoy inventor..
