1986 Toyota Long bed pick-up X-tra Cab review from North America
"A reliable workhorse"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The alternator has been replaced once and is nearing another replacement.
Slight oil leak that no one can seem to locate.
Power windows shorted out.
Driver's side window fell off of the rail.
Stalls occasionally.
General comments?
This tiny little Toyota was my first car and still our house's dump run and emergency vehicle. It has lasted so far in a house that has a 2000 Buick Century, a 1993 Lincoln Continental, and a 1977 Pontiac Firebird.
The interior of this truck is horrendous, though it gets the job done. Numerous little coverings, appointments, and finishes have fallen off or been nearly destroyed.
The rear window is almost impossible to get open sometimes and often proves to be a major inconvenience in a vehicle where the windows don't work and the alternator has problems (can't run the fans too much).
For the most part, this truck is reliable, uncomfortable, underpowered, but a over-all decent workhorse for a family that prefers luxury sedans.
