1990 Toyota MR2 G-Limited review from Australia and New Zealand
"Wonderful first car, would highly recommend, good bang for your buck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Needs new speedo cable, which is about $500 from Toyota.
The passengers seat won't move.
The emissions light has come on. We have not being able to find a code for it. Spent $200 looking for a problem with none as of yet.
The engine bay won't open due to cable being stretched.
The door speaker wiring has corroded.
The targa top leaks.
The anti-sway bar come off!
The fuel light doesn't come on.
The air-conditioner doesn't work.
Toyota doesn't want to service it, due to it being an import.
General comments?
All of the problem listed above is due to lack of maintenance from the previous owner.
The car is quick for a non turbo, and will go 0-100 in about 7 seconds.
Due to me lowering it, it handles perfect. I have also put a power-chip into it, and this has boosted its performance heaps, but it needs to be run on 98 Octane.
The interior is nice. Has got plenty of space to store stuff for a 2 seater, but the ride can be a bit rough.
