1991 Toyota MR2 T-Top review from North America
"High performance for a low initial investment"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Timing belt has broken 3 times! Mechanics say my engine was screwed by Toyota (by the way it takes a lot of work to replace).
Turbo went out.
Too many rear tires to count.
Window master switch/door lock relay problems ($600 for the door/window problem, a bit ridiculous).
Coolant problems.
New brake discs (my fault).
Also I am responsible for a lot of this damage because I rodded this car to hell.
General comments?
As expensive as this MR2 is to repair, and as expensive and useless my local Toyota dealer is (which I think is the case with all Toyota dealers), I love the performance of this car, and I will be sure to buy a newer one in the future (not a spyder though - they are a powerless joke).
Good interior, awesome handling and OK reliability.
