Fuses broke a few times (radio and lights turned off while I was driving at 3 am in the morning.)
Changed the alternator a year after I bought it and the conveyor belt.
Aside from that, I barely had any repairs to do. Within two years, I have only spent 500$ on repairs on a car that was 13 years old.
Very economical car, drives well and handles very well.
Very easy to park with this car.
Sporty looking car at a very reasonable price.
Great trunk space, but the trunk door (opening) is small--making it sometimes hard to fit larger objects into the trunk. Backseat flips down to give more room for transportation.
Note that this car is meant for petite people. I am 5"2 and my head almost touches the ceiling.
Car ideal for two passengers only as the backseat is extremely uncomfortable.
If you have young children, backseat will be fine, but if once you are bigger and taller, your head touches the rear window.
The car gets very hot during the summer and air circulation doesn't flow well when the windows are opened.
Despite these minor flaws, I love my Toyota Paseo. The only reason why I need to get rid of it soon is because I need a car with air conditioning.
I just bought a ‘92 Paseo and I am 6’1” tall and I bought it because it actually one of the few cars I can actually drive. I had to be almost cut out of a Miata at a car show because my knees got stuck under the steering wheel.
The only complaint I have so far about the car is the sunroof. Mine has a crack in it and they don’t repair it after market so you have to purchase one through the dealer and I have heard that it costs over a $1000!
Other than that it’s mechanically sound with what I would consider normal wear and tear. I’ve had to replace a strut and change the thermostat. I can’t believe how it handles in the snow. Very cool little car!
I totally agree with the previous comment regarding height. I'm 6' 2" and had no problem fitting in the Paseo. I can fit in Miatas, but just. The worst car ever as far as room is a tie between the last MR2 and the painful Audi TT.
Today, unfortunately, modern design has taken precedence over functionality and even cars that you would think you would be able to fit in (2006 BMW 3 series for example) are tight fits at best.
I really loved the way the Paseo drove and looked. And I almost bought one until a mechanical inspection revealed the owner was a total liar about everything she claimed had been fixed on the car. I should have sued her for the $88 I spent to find out her deception.
Maybe another Paseo is in my future.
