1989 Toyota Pickup X-tra cab 4x4 review from North America
"An all around good pickup"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The clutch needed to be replaced at 180,000 miles.
The contacts in the starter motor were replaced at 185,000 miles.
My battery slid out of it's spot and a hole was worn in it from a pulley.
General comments?
I could not ask for anything more from this pickup.
I bought it for $4250 and it is well worth it.
I can cruise down the highway at 90mph and get 19 miles per gallon.
Since I bought the pickup I have replaced the semi-comfortable split bench seat with bucket seats.
Also I have put new wheels/tires on the truck and repainted it.
The original paint was rust free, but had lost its original gloss.
To get a little more horse power I made my own custom air intake and custom exhaust, both with mandrel bent tubing.
This pickup has worked well as a daily driver and doubles as a capable work truck.
It will haul a car trailer and take a load of dirt in the box (not at the same time). I put helper springs and a receiver hitch in to help with these tasks.
I would highly recommend any of these modifications to this truck and I would definately recommend this truck to anyone.
Any questions I will try to answer.
