1989 Toyota Pickup SR5 XCAB review from North America

I have replaced the coil three times in the past five years most likely because I've used after-market replacement coils.

I replaced the alternater three years ago.

I replaced the clutch-pedal mount-bracket six months ago.

The interior fan has stopped working on the two lowest settings.

The water pump was replaced in 1992 due to a minor manufacturer defect but it still worked fine.

This pickup truck has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever known.

With the exception of the coil, alternator, clutch pedal bracket, water pump, brake pads, timing belt, drive belts, fluids, tires, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor, windshield, and headlights, everything in this pickup, including the clutch, is original equipment.

This truck has 373,000 miles on it and it currently achieves slightly over 30 miles per gallon of gas on the highway.

The highway mileage specification of this truck, when it was new, was 27 miles per gallon.

Nothing has been overhauled, including the engine.

The long wheelbase gives it a very smooth ride and it handles corners with ease.

This truck is a two-wheel-drive pickup.

This truck is equipped with nothing, but stock parts.

This truck still has very impressive engine performance.

Described as "a sports-car with a bed", this specific pickup model was the Motor Trend truck of the year.

I once towed a 1982 Chevy Silverado truck a distance of approximately 130 miles with this pickup and did so with relative ease.

I will keep this pickup for as long as it is drivable, which I expect will be a long time yet to come.
