1991 Toyota Previa review from North America
"The Previa is one of the most reliable people-haulers on the planet!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The starter stopped working at 321,000 Km (199,500 miles).
Setting #2 of the front heater fan speed switch stopped working. Settings #1,3 & 4 still work fine.
The head light lenses (plastic) do not pass light very well any more.
Slight rust on the lip of the rear wheel wells where the lips joint onto the plastic bumper. There is no rust on the rest of the body.
General comments?
If you are in the market for a good used minivan to haul people and goods around, look no further.
The buyer of my van had insisted that his mechanic give it a thorough inspection. I would do the same in his position.
The only problems that the mechanic (who specilizes in Japanese makes) could find were the rear muffler would probably need to be replaced fairly soon and one of the exhaust pipe support hooks had rusted away and a new one should be installed with the new muffler.
Mechanically, it was still going strong. The body was in pretty good shape, given the mileage. The interior is only in average shape due to the fact that the vehicle had been used as a multi-purpose vehicle. It had indded served its owners well.
