Purchased this vehicle used at 75000 Km, we have since doubled the miles with no major problems.
The check engine light will not stay off. The code is an emissions reading. After researching I am convinced it is a hoax. The dealer thinks it is a cat converter problem... I bet... $900 CAD part. I don't have a problem driving with the check engine light on, but I am worried that if a more serious problem arises my car won't talk to me because I have learned to ignore it.
Other than that I am very happy with my Rav. The people that complain about gas millage need to remember that this is a AWD vehicle and you won't get Yaris millage driving 4 wheels.
We drive a narrow windy road all winter long with unpredictable morons driving unequipped vehicles for the conditions and I feel safe... even dodging hotshots in their giant 4x4s losing control around corners on their all season tires.
We are currently looking for a second vehicle which brought me to this site and after discovering Toyota's V-6 sludging problems, Honda's V-6 transmission, and Nissans Maximitis problems I feel gratefull to look out my window at a vehicle that will undoubtably get me to work every morning.
I have realized that every vehicle will not give years of uninterrupted service without a few hicups, but my little rav is the baby SUV that could... So far... stay tuned.
