"Brilliant"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The dash seem to rattle when traveling at low speeds.

The plastic interior scratches way to easy.

General comments?

I love my rav!! my Previous car was a Suzuki Grad Vitara, but the Suzuki stands no chance for the Rav4. I like the powerful 2.4L VVT-I engine and it has just as much power as my suzuki (with the Gas Guzzling V-6). The rav4 has great gas mileage I get about 25 miles to the gallon city driving. I love the roomy interior space and the JBL sound system is out of this world! I saw that not a lot of people had the rav4's with S model and I'm young (23) so I wanted something with a sporty look to it so I decided to purchase my rav4 with the Sports Package with the really cool hood scoop and the interior sport cloth seats. Speaking of the seat's they seem to get rather uncomfortable during long rides. I Highly recomend you to look at the Toyota rav4 if your looking for a economic or sporty ride.

Brilliant is not the adjective I would have used. The RAV4 is a good vehicle, but has the following quirks:

*The mileage stinks for a 4 cylinder (you will only get what the sticker says 23/27mpg). My V8 Tundra could get 21 highway!

*The AWD REALLY drags and slows you down when you take your foot off the gas. No coasting with this vehicle. It's like you nose-dive from braking every time you ease off the gas.

*The cargo cover is a useless piece of cheap engineering. When loading, it is held up out of your way by a piece of rubber on each side that helps it stick to the back pillars. NO matter how hard you wedge it up there, it keeps falling down on your head when loading cargo!

So, the final verdict is... I prefer to drive our Corolla S because it is more FUN to drive, it gets 33/38 mpg, it will go in snow too, and it was many $$$ thousands $$$ cheaper to purchase!

I agree go for the V6 4.0L if you want the fun I have.

Speaking of loading cargo... Be careful of that big heavy side-hinged door that likes to try to rip your head off when parked on a grade where the rear is higher than the front, or when the weather is windy, or both. The door curves in to a knife's edge at the top and once it starts closing in on you, and if you're not expecting it, it will just about knock you off your feet, head first, and the only thing that will stop your fall is your face plowing into the weatherstripping on the roof. You will literally look like you got beat up. It happened to me after owning the car only four days. Your results, of course may vary. If I were taller, my head might have been severed, more or less, cleanly off at the neck. If I were shorter, or bent over, my head would have missed the roof and I might have safely landed in the car with the door closed behind me. Of course, I happen to be the perfect height to get my face crushed...

To the guy that is getting the crap beaten out of him by his Rav4:

Get the #@$# out of the way!
