2000 Toyota Sienna SE review from North America
"It is disappointing"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Large volume of smoke at startup. Using about a quart of oil a week, even though I'm only going about 100 miles a week (I'm semi-retired). I changed oil religiously, but still have a massive issue with this engine. My mechanic told me there is a known issue with improper oil flow design and Toyota may fix it, but they have been inconsistent about taking responsibility. He said he can deal with it if Toyota will not man up, but it will be expensive.
General comments?
I've mostly had Toyotas, at least for the last 25 years, and this is the first time I've had an issue. I was planning to get a new car to replace my other car (a 1997 Toyota Rav4) but may need to replace the Sienna first since the Rav4 runs much better and is in great shape. With Toyota quality and service diminishing, I will definitely check out alternatives for my next vehicle, although it depends on response to this problem.
