The 6-disc in-dash CD changer/radio operates erratically (fails to turn on, fails to turn off, won’t accept a CD, spits out all 6 CDs, display won’t come on, display won’t light, volume knob won’t adjust volume). Was told by my local Toyota dealership on two separate occasions that they could not find anything wrong with it. Returned another time to show them the video footage I took of the radio one day when it was acting very erratically and was told “that doesn’t prove anything”. Was also told that there was almost NO warranty for items like this. Responded by telling them that that would certainly be the case when they make statements like “that doesn’t prove anything” when slapped in the face with clear proof of the failure. Their response: “If we can’t find a problem with something while it’s in our possession, then it’s not officially a problem”. I guess customer-provided evidence doesn’t constitute proof.
This is my second Sienna with this exact same radio problem.
I otherwise have liked the car. However, I feel like I'm starting to be treated by the Toyota service people like GM used to treat their service customers. That is one thing that lead to GM's loss of prestige. You can't treat people like complete idiots and expect them to continue buying your product.
My Mom rented it. And there's a rattling noise in the engine. She has a 2006 Caravan, which will be 4 years old soon, and it runs better than the Sienna. Other than that, everything else works fine on the Sienna. Thanks.
