2002 Toyota Sienna CX from North America
Summary:
This car is not the quality I would have expected from the Toyota name
Faults:
The visor vanity mirror cover has broken 3 times in 3 1/2 years.
The driver side power window clip broke and window fell out.
The plastic cover to one of the lighter/power outlets in my vehicle has broken off.
A plastic part of my 2nd row seat seatbelt broke off.
General Comments:
I enjoy driving my van, as it has good power and steering ability, especially for a minivan.
I am, however, disappointed with the quality of this vehicle. You would think with a vehicle that has been so highly recommended and comes with a higher price tag would be put together better. I have had several small things go wrong with the vehicle, for example plastic parts breaking off of the lighter/power outlets and my 2nd row seat seatbelt.
I have had issues with the visor vanity mirror cover breaking 3 times in the 3 1/2 years I have owned the vehicle. One was replace within a year of purchasing vehicle and that one has broken again.
Also, I put my driver side power window down one day and it fell off the guides. My husband struggled to catch the window before it fell out and broke and managed to get it put back in the correct position. I recently took the vehicle to the local Toyota dealership and was told that a plastic "guide" molded onto the window broke and to repair the window, the entire glass would have to be replaced. This all happened just as the 3 year warranty expired, however, since I knew it was out of warranty (mileage) I did not bother taking it in until recently.
The saddest part of all of this is that I called Toyota and told them of my problems, and that I felt that there was a design flaw with the mirror and they would not do anything. They do not back their vehicles. You would think with a car that is sold at this price, you would get a little higher quality.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

We bought a 1998 Toyota Sienna. The driver side window could not function right after the three-year warranty expired. It started with some difficulty to close the window after paying toll. We had to try several times to bring the window to close position & it got worse and worse every year. It just failed the inspection today because of the driver side power window failed to close.
As far as driving, I really feel it is a very good one except some interior parts fell off easily.
I wanted to trade in the van to the dealer where I bought the mini van from, they only offered $1500 and complained about the broken power window will cost them to fix it.
Just to open up the door and check out what went wrong will cost us $110. Can anyone tell us any better solution?

My 2001 Sienna has held up extremely well. I cannot imagine what you do to break so many items.

4 reviews on here of the 2002 Toyota Sienna CE, as I don't think they made a CX for NA, and 1 bad review, and you're not going to buy one? Either you are easily swayed, or you are looking for an excuse to not buy one. I have known several people who've owned this van and nary a bad thing to say about it. One guy drove his up to 390K before replacing the engine. Look at Edmunds and Kelly.com at the reviews. Most people love the 2002 Sienna. Of course you can settle on the 2002 Honda Odyssey with its bad transmission and interference engine that may need replacing if the timing belt snaps on it. Toyota has a NON interference engine that will not break if the timing belt snaps. And one more thing. The Sienna has much better resale than all other mini vans.

Toyota at this time also had engines that were prone to sludge. 6 and 4 cylinder.

Thank you for this information about the poor quality of Sianna CX 2001, I was ready tp purchase one 2002, but for sure I will accept my deposit back.
