"A wonderful luxurious bargain"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The car was in very good condition, therefore nothing much was wrong with it.

Only afew cosmetic problems, the cd stacker had a few problem trying to read and load.

The front arm-brushes were worn out, but doesn't hurt to drive with them.

The transmission and engine mounts were replaces. Common problems in soarers.

General comments?

For $20,000 the car was worth every penny. It had luxurious options that that's worth more than $20,000 alone.

The ride was very comfortable due to the comfy seats and drving position. The quite interior made music sound like a concert.

The doors are a little big and heavy, but looks good.

Boot space was reasonable, with a space saver spare tyre.

When on the road, the car is a beast. Managing to out do most cars its size. Not so fun when you hit something. The repairs or parts for these cars are really expensive.

But well worth the price and ownership.

I think that you over paid 20,000 dollars for a 1992 that is insane I bought the same car here in Tokyo. But I only paid 3000 for it and there is not anything wrong with it at all. And came with 18 in. rims and everything fully loaded. Karroseria GPS tracking system a DVD player, pioneer amp, and 2 10in ken-wood speakers. Runs Great had it for almost two years and I have not had anything wrong with it. Cars are extremely cheap here in Tokyo.

Cars are more expensive in aussie for some reason. double that of in nz.

I've got a 1991 twin turbo model for $9500,134000km. it has a lot of options such as ABS,trc, tems, 16" rims, 12 stack cd.

But the electronic dash blinks on and off (which is very common) and the fuel pump ecu is faulty! (which is also very common) although essentially a good car that blows older hsv's off the road muahahahhahahahahaha.

I have just got a 1992 sc400 GT limited and its the best thing since sliced bread it only got 59000km's and everything works on it. its also got 18inch rims it only cost me $16000, so if your looking for one they're still good ones out there if you look.

Must admit, I am a bit of a snob and dismissed these cars as another inferior Japanese grey import for the rev heads.

I have owned and driven many new prestige cars including Audi, BMW, Mercedes etc. But a friend's Soarer recently changed my mind about these cars. The technology is unbelievable (reverse camera, folding mirrors, standard one touch electric seat adjustments, adjustable suspension, lights that go into corners etc). But the refinement and performance of the vehicle simply blows away any 318i, A4 or C180K at a fraction of the cost. It compares more to an SL or CL Mercedes than a C class. I am seriously thinking about selling my overglorified new 4 cylinder badge (which cost me 300% more) to buy one of these used "grey" vehicles. But what would my snobby mates think?
