The head gasket went out and head was warped (repairable) at 112,000 miles, however this was my fault, driving in the red.
The AC compressor went out at 75,000, also I replaced the radiator, one power steering hose, the steering rack, front wheel bearings, a power window switch, and speedometer cable and that's it in 15 years and 202,000 miles.
I am the original owner and did bolt on engine modifications to 315 horsepower at around 20,000 miles. Now at 202,000 miles this car has proven itself to be extremely reliable, also attributable to good maintenance and synthetic fluids throughout for the last 13 years.
It still has the original clutch and runs very strong.
Hi steve.
I want to say your work was very good. It was hard finding anyone who knows 1987 supras like you do. I was amazed to find your record of your hard effort. I live in a small town in Merced, California. My toyota supra has a bad over heading. I changed the Thermosat vaule, shop cleaned the radiator, got a new cap, hoses, new fluids.
This eng is a jap spec and I am not sure if it will past smog. P.s. I am sorry this has nothing to do with your site, but Your pretty much my only hope so thank you.
