Sometimes the idle runs high when first started then it is normal when driving, but when stopped either the idle runs high again or so low that the truck stalls. Also there are times when starting it stalls out unless I give it a lot of gas and during driving if I stop the idle drops and will almost stall unless again I give it gas. Some people say it could be the idle air control valve, something to do with the throttle body or the fuel system.
I had the same trouble with my 2002 SR5 4x4 V6 tacoma. It turned out that by using a TRD air filter (and not cleaning it often enough), my throttle body got clogged with dirt. The dealership took it off, cleaned it out and reinstalled. I am now using a stock air filter since I can't seem to keep the TRD filter clean.
