1997 Toyota Tacoma 2WD Extended Cab review from North America
"Durable, Dependable, Reliable, The Best"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The only thing to go wrong so far was the Universal Joint at 100,000 Miles.
Otherwise, this truck has been great. Problem free and reliable.
General comments?
This truck has never let me down. Its reliable, economical, and comfortable. The 2.4L with a 5 Speed Manual gets between 25-30 miles to the gallon. This is my first truck/car I have ever owned (16 Years Old) and I never want to get another.
On the highway and in the city streets, with the manual transmission, it picks up very well. On the highway, it drives excellent in 4th gear.
The extended cab has given me the room for a few passengers and to have a sub box and have a very nice stereo in the truck.
I have owned this truck 3 years and it has caused me no problems. I work at an auto garage so I get discounted parts, but never need them.
The only reason I would get rid of this truck is the 2WD. It is terrible in snow. Even with bigger BF Goodrich tires, it still slides all around and gets stuck almost everywhere. My next truck will definitely be a 4x4 Toyota.
I strongly recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants a high-quality truck.
