1986 Toyota Tercel 4x4 Estate review from UK and Ireland
"Its great, buy one!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Buckled brake disks which cause the steering to wobble a bit.
The leading edge of the rear wheel arch is now beginning to rot.
General comments?
This car is excellent.
It's my third one in twenty years of motoring (not counting the two my family have also had) and I love it!
I have taken this car to the limit in fair weather AND foul and it always seems to want more.
Sadly with the back full with a couple of sets of SCUBA gear she sags a little at the rear causing grounding on severely rough terrain so it WOULD be better with a little more ground clearance.
I have never found a car with as much luggage space.
It's great for the holidays, you can pack it to the roof and there's always room around the kid's feet if you run short.
I once drove at 100MPH for three hours on a journey to Scotland and my Tercel didn't miss a beat!
With the rear seats down there is plenty of room for two if you don't want to pitch a tent.
In short, this car is fantastic!
