1993 Toyota Tercel review from North America
"This car has been great and I'm scared to trade it in"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Seats wore off badly, which I don't care I bought seat covers.
I was on my way to work and my CV Joints broke when I was going 80 mph on a bumpy road and I fell in a hole and kept going. I work 15 miles away from work (give or take) and it took me home safely either way, then I got it fixed.
Dome light never worked on me I'm working on fixing that.
All the speakers blew out on me and I never had them that loud, I went ahead and bought 2 10" Sub woofers, 2 Amplifiers, 2 Door Speakers and 2 Rear seat speakers. It sounds GREAT in this car.
General comments?
This car is at 195,000 miles and its still running like new. When I go passed 65 mph the gas pedal vibrates uncontrollably, but I can still make it to 90 and it'll keep going without over heating or anything. This car wasn't made for speeding so let's just say that from 0-65 this car runs like new nothing vibrates, nothing staggers, It runs smooth. I've never had a problem with the clutch it changes gears with no problem. Great handling, great braking, great gas mileage. Not to long ago Hurricane Wilma passed by here, I decided to fill the tank before it came, when it finally passed by here (Miami) All the gas stations with electricity had lines from here to Tampa and this was going on all week. I had to go to work everyday too and there were A lot of detours so it averaged on like 23 miles to get to work and 23 back so 46 miles a day Monday-Saturday totalling 256 miles give or take. On Saturday leaving work I spotted a gas station and filled the tank again although I still had like $5 worth of gas in the tank. So as far as gas goes this car is great too.
I have to admit although this car isn't meant for speeding I abuse it and it still loves me back. For example, sometimes I leave work dying to get home and instead of changing gears like I'm supposed to I change to first and accelerate for a good while, engine dying for me to change to third, but instead I hit second and do the same, then third and finally fourth. I make the car go from 0-60 in like 10 seconds give or take (I haven't timed it) anyways the car still doesn't overheat or anything and still runs like new so I'm happy to have this car.
