Front end - shocks, bearings, brakes, CV/axles, etc.
Great, reliable little car. A bit hard to get in and out of for me (6'3'' and a great lumbering git) but for more coordinated or smaller dudes, okay. My kids love it.
Easy to work on - buddy and I changed the whole front end last week for the cost of parts, which were relatively easy to find at the wreckers.
Burning a bit of oil now, with attendant blue cloud occasionally. But I grin and bear it. My commitment to feeding the family and paying the mortgage is about equal to my commitment to saving the environment, so I'll buy a Smart car next time... if I can afford it.
Meanwhile, I'll keep flogging the Turk...
Why would you buy a Smart car? I'm all for saving the environment and driving smaller cars, but a Smart is just too small. I would never, ever buy a Smart. They're ugly, plus, I'd expect better than 40 MPG out of something so small, my '08 Honda Civic gets 45 MPG and it has one more cylinder than a Smart!
