1990 Toyota Truck Standard 2wd review from North America
"Best small truck ever"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Very few things have gone wrong with this great truck.
Had to replace the timing chain at 145000.
Front brake pads and clutch went out at around 170000.
General comments?
This has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. It gets an average of 24 mpg and have had it as high as 30 on a slow highway trip. I use it to run my mowing business and always have a load in the bed. In 177000 miles the engine or transmission have been flawless. The 22R still refuses to use any oil between 3K changes and is probably the most reliable and bulletproof motor ever built. If I could change a few things I would like A/C, a 5 speed instead of a 4 and maybe a little more power. Other than those few nitpicky wishes, my little truck gets me up the ski hill in the winter and tows my mowing equipment in the summer. Plus it is super cheap to run.
