"This is the best truck ever built"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

This truck was flawless.

General comments?

This was my first Toyota, and it is the reason that I will probably never buy anything but Toyota's ever again.

Everything about this truck was mechanically perfect. These engines are unstoppable even after serious off-roading, over-revving, and general abuse.

This was the tightest feeling vehicle I have ever driven. Even off road, it felt like one solid piece of iron on wheels. Bounced it hard, went through water so deep that waves came over the hood, beat it back and forth to college and to work, and I never had a problem.

Toyota trucks, between about 1989 and 1995 are the toughest trucks ever built by anybody.

I agree as my 1992 Extra cab 4wd purchased in 2003 with 225,000 miles now has 325,000 trouble free miles. It has

the 22RE engine with auto trans and still can deliver 24 mpg and can haul 2,000 lbs anytime. No oil useage or leaks from either the engine or transmission. NOTHING has been replaced other than the muffler and front rotors. Alternator, starter, water pump, timing chain are all factory

original as is all engine sensors and vacuum hoses. This

truck is as tight as the day it left Tokyo built by team

number 295 and how proud they must be. The Toyota dealer in

Rapid City, SD told me he has two customers with 500 & 700K

on them... which proves Toyota's do last.

Damn right! Ha ha. The 22re is maybe the best engine ever built. In fact, I'm going to go ahead and say that it is. And wrapped around it is the toughest truck made by anybody, ever. I wish I still had mine, but I now have a '98 Tacoma with the 3.4 v-6, which seems to be just as good. Right now, it's sitting in the driveway covered in mud from yet another rally-cross adventure. Oh, and I changed oil today 1000 miles overdue and the old oil barely looked any different than the new oil I filled with. A perfect engine from Toyota. What a surprise, huh??
