2000 Toyota Yaris S review from UK and Ireland

1 exhaust valve in cylinder 1 has burnt at 80,000 miles, causing a lack of compression. The other exhaust valve in cylinder 1 shows signs of pitting at 80,000 miles.

Stereo occasionally ignores all adjustments to volume, radio station, etc, until engine is restarted. This has happened for the whole life of the vehicle.

Driver door hinge requires regular adjustment and driver door paint seems to chip very easily.

This car has served me well. I bought it from new, and it has given me no real trouble in the 4 years I've owned it until now (80,000 miles - see above)

The cabin is well laid out, with lots of storage.

The instruments are very well packaged down the tunnel, which is a source of amusement for visitors, and a source of confusion whenever I am required to drive another vehicle (I find myself looking at the other car's stereo thinking "how fast am I going?")

The rear, front and side visibility is good, even for a person of small stature.

The seat and steering wheel also have sufficient adjustment to allow me to drive comfortably.

The car pulls away well, and will do any speed that I have asked of it, but the revs are always high. My partner complains that it screams.
