1998 TVR Chimaera 400 review from UK and Ireland
"Fast, powerful and good looking - at a bargain price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The drivers side door trim came loose.
Transmission tunnel trim came loose.
General comments?
The car is surprisingly comfortable and practical for a hand built small volume manufactured vehicle with a reputation for poor reliability.
The performance of the vehicle is very good with high torque allowing relaxed cruising and effortless overtaking.
Handling is good with little body roll and little over or under steer unless provoked.
Due to the large amounts of torque available, the wet weather performance can be "interesting" with the car willing to over steer, however this only happens when driving in a manner not recommended for a lightweight, powerful rear wheel drive car.
I've driven 15000 miles in the last 9 months in the car and it has been mechanically faultless and have not had any "scary" moments.
