I own a both an sri turbo and gsi turbo, and if you look in the owners manual you will see that the sri weighs 1210kg and the gsi weighs 1245kg due to leather interior.
Drive both and you will find the sri is slightly quicker than the gsi despite 8bhp deficit. also sri is limited edition built in germany whereas the gsi is built in the uk.
Sri turbo:
0-60 6.5
0-100 17.3
top end 138.
Gsi:
0-60 6.6
0-100 17.6
top end 138.
You will not get 0-60mph in 6.5 sec in a sri turbo. More like 7.3sec.
The heavier Astra Coupe turbo has been officially timed at 7.3 seconds from 0 to 60. Because of the lower weight, the Astra SRi turbo hatch will beat that time by at least a few tenths of a second.... although it probably wouldn't quite match the slightly more powerful GSi's time (6.6 seconds).

Sri is 35kg lighter than gsi, remap meant for improve smoothness, sri more raw power.
I have a Astra gsi turbo and I think people are going from one extreme to another, its fast for the price it will do a 0-60 mph in 7secs book time. I had a race with my mate and he has a Honda civic tyre-r and I won by quite abit, I don't think it is a quicker car it just gains traction easily compared to other rivels oh and for people who think the st170 is faster they need to wake up, cause if a standard one came up i'd put my log book down that I would win.
Can we get this sorted for once???
The Astra GSI SRI Turbo all have the same power!
This was done as a tax dodge in Germany where the SRI Turbo was made - All the Zafira Turbo, Astra Coupe Turbo are also at this same spec!
Secondly as for the 0-60 time - I had a Calibra Turbo book speed 0-60 6.2 and an Astra mk3 GSI (Redtop 140bhp@the wheels) 0-60 7 and I reckon the Astra is closer to the Calibra than the old Astra!!!
I am not on here to biggup my car - I just don't like to see Bull written by the ill informed.

Thank you, someone who knows hat their talking about.
I am one of the owners of a flame red Astra SRi Turbo and am also a regional organiser for a well known Astra site.
There are only 500 of these cars and 20 in red. The other 2 colours available are Silver and Black.
The facts about the car are that vauxhall declared the car as 189bhp to make insurance companies view the car as slightly underpowered, and therefore giving it a group 15 rating. However, every one that I have seen on a rollers has hit 200+. The GSI is the same car and same setup, but has a revised map to make the power delivery smoother.
The cars book performance is 0-60mph in 7 seconds, but I can assure you it is closer to 6 seconds. My last 1/4 mile time at Santapod raceway was 14.6 sec @ 96mph. to give you an idea of the 0-100mph.
People whom have driven these cars think they are not that quick. The reason for this being that power is introduced low in the rev range and is progressive. This therefore doesn't give you the aggressive 'kick' that say an escort cosworth would give you.
The SRI Turbos were also given a slightly stiffer suspension package than the GSi as the suspension is OPC.
My car is presently tuned to 239bhp and 310ibft and can easily stay with a standard WRX Impreza. However, I would assume the P1 would be a different matter.
I hope the above will be of more use.
As above, I am one of the lucky owners of a flame red SRI Turbo. My car is totally standard and will consistently complete 0 to 60 in around 6.5 seconds.

I, m also an owner of a Flame red sri Turbo completely standard it will hit 60 in 6.3 seconds (Timed), it was also rolling roaded at 204bhp.
'yea they are fast and they put you in the seat, but at the end of the day it's a vauxhall!!'
So why did you buy it then?
How did you blow your turbo, my original was running at 245bhp for 8mths without any problems whatsoever, got a hybrid turbo in now, as long as you change oil and filter every 2-3k miles you'll be fine.

I also am a lucky owner of the red SRi turbo Astra. I love it. Especially when you get someone behind ya in a Merc or a BMW, then you just leave him standin sniffin your smoke. I don't know what power its got and don't really care, I just know it's better than my mate's GSi.
Am getin 1! there a beast of a car hands down.
I have a mk4 Astra SRi Turbo in black, currently running a stage 4 remap by Courtney, 272.8 bhp and 326ft/torque.
Left the GSi standing!! Easily beat the Subaru WRX (but then the undercover Golf R32 caught up to me LOL), ST170s have no chance, playing with an M3 is also fun, don't think he could drive though.
