2000 Vauxhall Astra SRi from UK and Ireland - Comments

"Brilliant performer, 10/10 Vauxhall"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing has gone wrong as yet, the build quality seems second to none.

This is my second new Astra, no problems

with the first one either, I had that

one for 17 months on a 'T' plate.

General comments?

The new 2.2 litre engine is as smooth as silk, it is effortless in 4th and 5th gear, at any speed too, it seems to have more torque than my Dad's BMW 328i, it is amazing.

Hiya... congrats on getting your SRi 2.2 Astra. Just wondering what kinda mileage are you getting on your car. I suppose a 2.2 machine can get quite thirsty... please email me at chuxiang@singnet.com.sg

Thanks!

I have the 2.2i Coupe. The engine was as smooth as silk like yours, but recently has started whining like crazy and sounds very ill -- it sounds like the transmission has gone worn out, but it happens in all gears, clutch in or out...

It's going back to the garage this week (for the 3rd time in its short life - also had numerous electrical faults), so I'll let this forum know what has gone wrong.

I do hope it gets fixed OK, as I am very very unhappy, as this car has only done 10,000 miles. I hope dear Vauxhall can get this sorted, otherwise I will be going back to my old friends at Mazda or Peugeot as soon as possible.
