1997 Vauxhall Astra TDS review from UK and Ireland
"Bargain reliable estate"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing has gone wrong with this car since my ownership. I have fully serviced it and that's it.
General comments?
I previously owned an astra hatchback mk3 with a GM TD engine which was great. I needed an estate so have swapped my M reg td hatch with 158,000 miles on it for a P reg TDS estate with 207,000 miles on the clock!
The car looks great and is all original with the standard vauxhall alloys, body coloured bumpers and electric windows etc. which come with the tds model which is much more than the previous merit trim car I had.
Car drives faultlessly and starts on the button every time. engine pulls strong and shows no sign of it's star ship mileage.
The only indication it has of high mileage is the drivers seat which has lost it's life to want of a better word, but do intend to change it.
Under the bonnet is the Isuzu power plant which is not as torquey as the GM unit at low revs, but makes up for it at the higher rev range.
Done 2000 trouble free miles and pleased with the £395 car!!! taxed and tested!!

| Great car, but severely let down by continual unreliability, I won't make the same mistake twice. |
