1995 Vauxhall Cavalier SRi 16v review from UK and Ireland

All the usual stuff with an ecotec...Eg... Camshaft sensor and idle control valve.

Shocks are on the way out, though it is lowered 60mm on 17" wheels, so most likely my fault.

I love it.

I had a 1990 2.0 8v 130 bhp ten years ago when I was 18, and always said I'd get another one.

Looked about for a red top, though my ecotec is spotless and was cheaper, even though when I bought the car the engine, gearbox, clutch and drive shafts had been replaced with brand new ones.

Plus the previous owner had put in Shrink cams at a cost to him of £480, plus the new engine was full ported and polished.

What did this all cost me?

£475.

Now is that a bargain or what?

Standard the stats are 136BHP 0-60 in 8.4 and 134MPH top speed.

Had mine on a rolling road in September 2008 with a blowing back box and made 189BHP.

Now too many people on this site like to make mad claims about there cars and that's one thing I ain't doing.

So I don't know my 0-60 and it goes off the clock with ease, though they only go up to 140 MPH.

The only thing modernish I can compare it to is my pal's 2002 190 bhp Celica, which I'm not ever any further away from him than a car length, and his standard 0-60 time is 7.1.

Only problem I have is in the corners.

That's when the newer machines will hammer my beloved Cavy.

Only thing I hate is that I need my 2007 Passat tdi for the kids. The ride in the Cavy kills me.

Never mind 2 two year olds and a three year old.
