Just bought a 1994 swb frontera, drove it back 180 miles, but had serious problems on motorway. when driving about 50 mph the vehicle swerves all over. is this because of rear wheel drive? does anybody know how I can solve this?
Apart from the mentioned problem... i think the frontera is good comfortable motor.
The experience you had on the motorway is actually a characteristic of the frontera, the ride is bouncy, the steering is vague, especially at speed, the mpg of the 2.0i is poor even compared to the 2.0i cavalier it is based on. The acceleration is sedate and certainly is not suited to long distance journeys.
However flawed the car is, it brings a cheeky smile to your face, just don't compare it with anything remotely modern and think of it as the cheap and cheerful 4x4 that it is!
