Head gasket blown twice.
Engine re-built.
Wheel bearings changed on both back wheels.
New radiator.
Welding on both rear arches and drivers door.
This car by far the most exciting little car I have ever driven.
I won't pretend that she is the smoothest drive in the world as she isn't, but that is what makes her so exciting.
And yes this car is seriously quick off the mark, I have owned her for 9 years now and I have still never been beaten off a set of lights and that's with no modifications being done.
It's true that Nova's are prone to rust, but it doesn't cost much to get some welding done.
It is a very cheap car to run (insurance costs and petrol), parts are easy to get hold off and very reasonably priced.
All in all this car is a real head turner and a real joy to drive and after all these years I still get people leaving notes on my windscreen asking if they can buy her!!!
I think quoting it 'the best hot hatch' is a little on the conservative side... I used to own a mk1 Clio 1.8 16v a few years back and it would make any Nova bar one with a red top fitted look stupid; they are a quick little car, but the best hot hatch.. no way in hell!
