1986 Vauxhall Senator review from UK and Ireland
"Better than a BMW, and with a Vauxhall Badge!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
3 broken rockers (previous owner thought the camshaft had broken, hence purchase price of £150!! Only 1 caused a breakdown), exhaust, alternator, 1 front & 1 rear wheel bearing, fuel lines, o/s/f door wiring (hinged part) & instrument panel bulbs.
General comments?
I have found this car to be the most reliable, surprising, comfortable & strong cars I have ever owned & one of the cheapest both to buy & run (around £500 for the last 2 yrs including the car!!), despite the fact I drive with my right foot firmly in the carpet! Amazing mid-range grunt & suprises many a hot-hatchs/BMWs. Some minor rust appearing around rear arches & o/s/f wing but this is to be expected at this age/mileage. Has only left me stranded once due to a rocker cracking (the day after purchase), always starts first time every time despite very little maintainance!
An absolute bargain. The Omega can never replace it! Now looking for a newer shape 3.0CD 24v. Still very happy, a stonking bargain. :-]
