Problems with Cam "gear wearing" (dealers description). This was fixed F.O.C. by Vauxhall dealer despite the car being out of warranty.
Oil pump gasket failed and sprayed engine bay with oil. Nice! Fixed F.O.C. by Vauxhall dealer despite the car being out of warranty.
Radiator leaks at the fan switch. Was leaving nasty patches on my driveway. Oddly enough, Fixed F.O.C. by Vauxhall dealer despite being out of warranty!!
Now, the whole thing squeaks and rattles likes crazy when I'm driving along. This car is only 18 months old!
I get a little suspicious when dealers fix things for nothing. So far, the Tigra's been in to a dealer about five times, but I only paid once (and that was for it's 12,000 mile service). I reckon they know there are a lot of faults and that's why they fix them free - to keep the customers quiet!
In particular, the problems in the "Cam area" seem to be mentioned quite a lot by others.
Seeing as the Frontera gets a regular grilling and I've not had much joy with my Tigra, I've decided never to buy any Vauxhall ever again.
And as for Ford, don't start me on them ....

Agree with all the rules.
I bought a lovley little Tigra in January and everything was fine for a few weeks. Then as other people have mentioned the engine management light started coming on. Everytime the light came on the car would slow down and totally cut out, I wait a minute or so then start up with lots of acceleration or it fades out again. Took it to the garage who diagnosed it being the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve. This valve is costing £212 from vauxhall plus labour - rather expensive! Im still able to drive the car for now and I know when its going to cut out as it loses all power. A few people have said to me this is a common vault with tigra's and after reading other reviews it seems so. No other problems, seatbelt gets stuck in the door all the time though which is annoying, however, this is my second car and i love it and wouldnt swap it for any other. (well maybe!)

I've just driven my 1995 Tigra home from the garage and guess what? The engine management light keeps coming on and the car slows almost to a halt then miraculously gains power at the last minute! I went ahead and bought the Tigra even after reading some of the faults on here, because I fell in love with it and just had to have one. I can see this is maybe the beginning of a love- hate relationship with my tigra. love the way it drives (when its OK!) and it looks magnificent. Any one had any luck at curing this problem?
I've got a P reg Tigra 1.6i 16v
Had the car since April this year... had a few probs with it!
Exhaust blew twice, radiator switch broke: (and now it starts bunny hopping along for no reason then suddenly cut out!!!
Seems to cut out when I'm stationary the revs drop below 1 and stalls so you have to sit there revving it!! Looks like I wanna race everyone!!
By the looks of it, it seems to be a common problem with these cars!!
Been a bit of a pain... BUT I LOVE IT WITH ALL MY HEART!! :D
And I wouldn't change it for anything!!:D.
