1997 Vauxhall Vectra Premier 5 door review from UK and Ireland
"They must have fired the quality manager that year"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
1st item was the steering rack. It failed its MOT through this. Luckly I approached a Vauxhall dealer on this who knew the part was faulty and therefore it was replace FOC. Others may be paying for this dearly.
2nd - still experiencing the engine management system cutting out. This results in loss of power steering and the ABS brake system. Vauxhall dealer cleaned the air intake valve, upgraded the CPU and said there you go. Still failing every now and again. Only due to the fact that the engine feels rough when driving along the road do I know it is going to fail and can pull over when the system shuts down at that point.
General comments?
I would have swore by Vauxhall. I have met so many people in my workplace who are experiencing similar problems. The time and inconvenience needed to maybe sort this problem is frustrating. I hate my car.
