1996 Vauxhall Vectra GLS review from UK and Ireland
"Following the Cavalier the Vectra is a retrograde step"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Steering rack within the first 2 months, recalled for gearbox, seat belt pre tensioners, handbrake adjustment. Boot lock motor failure. Central locking problems. Engine management problems necessitating replacement of the crank case sensor - still hasn't resolved the problem.
General comments?
We have owned 6 Vauxhall cars since 1980 having had a Viva and various Cavaliers. The last Cavalier - a 2.0l LS was a very good car - I would swap it for the Vectra without a doubt. The Vectra has not left us stranded - yet - but has had a succession of niggling faults that leaves the dealer as baffled as we are. Poor service Vauxhall.
